Change

Transitions are what keep life rolling, they are the only constant of life on earth. Recently I have transitioned from nordic skiing season into the lacrosse season. This is a hard transition because during the nordic ski season I use almost all my muscles but mainly my quads, hamstrings and abdominal muscles. During lacrosse training I use my calves and my forearm the most which means that when I make the switch I use muscles that I haven't used all winter and get extremely sore, which is frustrating because I feel as though I have trained so hard for nothing. Another challenge of this is having to go from a relaxed coaching (nordic) to a coach that makes your whole team run one suicide for each person that isn't at practice and does all most as much conditioning as she does stick skills. In order to transition smoothly and not hurt yourself you have to do a few things: these include taking an a least two week break from all physical activities in between the lacrosse season and the nordic season. During this week you would ice your muscles, drink recovery drinks, and sleep 10+ hours each night. After this period you need to ease yourself into the new sport by starting of with a minimum of training 3 days a week and continuing to sleep and ice your muscles. During this transition I feel pain and extremely sore muscles and I also feel restless to jump head into lacrosse because it is my favorite sport.
